Surreal Sculptures

These sculptures by Myeombeom Kim are not only visually beautiful, but contain things that stimulate other parts of the brain. To me it reminded me of old memories. Memories vary person to person quite a bit, but somehow I think these speak to many of us, not just me.

Infotography

This photo series is a sequence of diptychs. This is the first time I have seen data visualization being done photographically. Not only the idea is inspiring, but the colors in these are quite gorgeous.

このフォトシリーズはいくつもの2枚セットからなる。インフォグラフィックを写真で表現されいてるのを見るのははじめてでした。アイデアも素晴らしいし、色も素晴らしくキレイなんです。

Hitsuatsu(筆圧) is a word in Japanese, meaning “pressure of the brushstroke”. It is quite amazing how it communicates personality and emotions so clearly.

Beautiful visual narrative. They must have spent tremendous amount of time for location hunting. Where those screen meet is so precise on each pair of shots. Clever.

But these photographs of Danny Lyon are as real as it gets. I can see his personality through these.  ブルックリンの路上を舞台にした素晴らしい写真シリーズ。写真ってのは真実をとらえてるはずだけど、ほとんどの写真は本当のリアルをとらえられてないと思う。○○らしさ、とか空気感とか。でも、Danny Lyonさんのこの写真集は違う。そこにあったモノや表情が自然。これがリアル、って思った。写真を通して写真家の人柄は伝わってくる気がする。
